Symmetry Lab 3.6 and Haiku Time 2.6!

It's a good day for updates! Symmetry Lab 3.6 is here, with an all-new interface including dozens of new symmetry types and all the way up to 100-fold symmetry. (Symmetry Lab Basic 1.2 is also here, with the same new interface and three new types of symmetry.) Haiku Time 2.6 is also in the app store, with plural nouns, past tense verbs, and additional improvements in vocabulary.

  2. As much as I appreciate the new update, I am really really disappointed, that yet again, no improvements have been added to the undo feature. You can achieve some stunning results using this app, only to find that when you have added an extra step, which it is not to your liking, or simply looks wrong, you find your only option is to delete and start again. But that is not very useful as it is nigh impossible to recreate the steps of your previous work.

Although I like the addition of the slider bar to select the number of symmetrical folds, along with the changed interface, what would have impressed me the most, and found more useful, would be the implementation of a 25 + undo level which would have addressed the above issue.

Other apps manage to have multiple undo levels, so why not here?

The other thing that lets this app down, is that quite often because of the limited workspace, you can end up with the images being clipped at the edges, and find that what was a great symmetrical design, is now truncated. Again this would be easy to avoid if the lower half of the interface, where the options buttons for size, type and colour are located, could either slide down off the screen until your finger is lifted from the screen when drawing, or fade away until recalled in the same manner. That way you could end-up with a full sized, un-truncated image.

If the developer could address these problems, it could make the app less of a gimick, and make it a worthwhile and useful art application.
